Ballet under the Stars
17th - 19th July 2009 at Fort Canning Park
If you have enjoyed last year’s 20th Anniversary Celebration edition, you cannot afford to miss this 2009 season, which will be filled with crowd-pleasing performances set to rousing and entertaining music and choreography.

Gates are open for picnic from 5pm with leisure activities catered for children such as face painting and glitter tattoos. Be entertained with contemporary dance performances by National University of Singapore, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, School of the Arts, Singapore Ballet Academy and Youth Dancers Singapore during the pre-show performances on 18 and 19 July.

SDT dancers will take the stage at 7.30pm, presenting a compilation of both classical and contemporary works:

Stand Up for Singapore, choreography by Mohammed Noor Sarman, is an upbeat piece in celebration of our nation’s 44th birthday.
Sleeping Beauty Pas De Trios, choreography by Marius Petipa, features the celebration dance of the precious jewels – namely, Gold, Silver and Diamond for the wedding celebration of the Prince and Princess Aurora in Act III of the ballet.
Double Contrasts, choreography by Goh Choo San, is a witty and energetic ballet that is both elegant and classical in dance form.
Pop! is an electrifying display of dance segment including solos, duets and corp de ballet, with eye-catching and slyly humorous moves set to tunes by Annie Lennox, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, and more! This new work is a collaborative choreographic creation by SDT artistic team under the guidance of Artistic Director, Janek Schergen.
Raymonda Pas De Dix, choreographed by Marius Petipa, is a classical divertissement from Act III of the ballet. It was first performed by SDT in its inaugural performance in 1988.

So bring out your picnic basket and mats and join us at Fort Canning Park this July! Tickets are available through all SISTIC outlets.
